Our goal at Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish is to educate children in the faith and traditions of the Catholic Church. Children are able to use prayer, textbooks, hands-on projects, group activities, and participation at monthly Mass to experience all aspects of their religion. Each grade teaches and reviews basic concepts as well as covering a new topic building on previous knowledge.
The Diocese of Scranton requires that a continuous program of Religious Education be completed for grades 1-8. To truly learn the Catholic faith, the children's faith formation should take place in a consistent manner with regular attendance in all grades, not just in years of sacraments. Please note all required dates of attendance marked on our program calendar.
Kindergarten classes are also available on Sunday mornings from 9:00-10:15. Classes are not a required part of the program but they are a fun way for your child to receive an introduction to their faith experience. Classes in Kindergarten are filled with activity-based, age-appropriate lessons. You may register your child if he/she will be five years old and entering first grade the following year.
